Home theaters are very popular in the West now for many reasons, but partly due to the recession. However, I predict that after the recession is over, home theaters will take off like a rocket. In my estimation, this is because, the slump has forced people to examine their spending, which usually means cutting back. Going out, eating out and movies are all in the front line of these cuts. However, the slump is upsetting and people have to get some enjoyment from somewhere.

In the medium to long term, it is cheaper to build a home theater for a family than take them to a proper movie theater every week. Taking a family of four to the movies costs $50-$100, whereas a decent home theater might cost $1,000. It does not take long to recoup those costs. And it saves you the hassle of travelling there and back, the din and mobile phones during the film and high prices for candy and snacks.

OK, maybe people at the moment are buying cheap packages of home theaters, but one of the first things they will change when they get a bit of money again will be the speakers, I bet. Evidently, you need a good quality, large screen, but after that, it is the sound and the barrier to good sound is usually poor speakers.

The most important consideration in the design of your home theater is the dimensions of your room. If the room is small, you will not require so many speakers. Perhaps three speakers will be enough, if the room is small. However, if you only need three speakers and a sub-woofer, get good ones.

If you have a bigger room however, the basic three home theater speakers may not be enough. You may need to put up to six speakers and a sub-woofer around the room. The position of these speakers is up to you and can depend on the shape or and size of the room anyway, but typical layouts are:

3.1 system: one speaker to the left of the screen, one to the right and one underneath it. You can put the sub-woofer on top of the central speaker or at the back of the room. Try it and see.

5.1 system: as 3.1, but with two speakers at the back of the room too.

6.1 system: as 5.1, but with another speaker between the rear speakers, as in the front.

7.1 system: as 6.1, but with two speakers central rear, slightly away from each other. You can move the existing rear speakers a little to the sides too.

This set-up requires a lot of wiring as you can imagine. Now, you could staple the wires to the skirting board, but you should only do that after you are dead sure that you have the speakers in the right positions. Or you could hang the speakers on the walls. However, although that sounds good for music, it does not always sound all right for a movie.

The best option is wireless speakers. Wireless speakers can be moved around to suit the number of people watching the film or moved out for cleaning or redecorating purposes. You do not want to bash your nice, new, expensive speakers with the vacuum cleaner, do you?

If you do not buy your home theater in one box, as many people do, then you will have to select a screen at some stage or another. However, not only that, but you may be faced with choosing between a TV-cum-monitor unit and a drop down canvas screen.

It really all depends on the dimensions of the room you want to use as your home theater. If you are going to convert the box bedroom into a movie theater, then a 28 inch TV screen might be enough for you, but if you are going to use a long room and people might be quite a few yards from the screen, then a projector and drop-down screen would almost certainly be the right answer.

However, for most people, a normal TV screen would be sufficient. There are several types of television sets on the market at the moment, so we will take a look at them in turn later. Firstly, I would like to mention the dimensions. It has been standard practice for hundreds of years to hang a painting five times the diagonal of that painting from the viewer’s eyes. In other words, if a painting or a screen or a window, is two feet diagonally, then the best place to view it from is ten feet away.

This is a broad rule, it is not written in stone. Personal preference and eyesight come into it too. Therefore, if you used a 28 inch television set, the optimum viewing distance would be about 12 feet away. So, 28 inches would be ample for most spare bedrooms, but maybe not for a converted attic or basement. This relationship between screen and room size is the most important to get correct, otherwise the rest is a waste of money.

It all boils down to: do you like to sit in the front of the movie house or at the back? [We are only discussing viewing the film here]. If you like to be dominated by a huge screen, then the proportions I gave you must be decreased, otherwise they should be about right. Test yourself: how far do you like to sit from your TV? Is it more or less than 5:1?

There are basically three kinds of view screens and they are: plasma, rear projection and front projection screens. The first is the modern flat screen TV, the second the conventional TV and the third a system with a projector.

Plasma Televisions

These televisions provide the best quality, particularly for watching movies that are formatted for wide screen viewing. They have a much larger viewing zone than traditional televisions and they also come in a wide variety of sizes in order to adapt to many types of home theater needs. The biggest problem with these beauties is the price, but that is dropping every month too.

Rear Projection Televisions

This is the standard cathode ray tube TV that we have all been watching since were born. Their major problem is that they are lumpy, but that was not a problem for decades, so if it suits your room, do not let it be a problem to you now,

Front Projectors

This is what you see at the movies or on old Cine 8mm – the drop-down projection screen. But, do not write it off. It still produces high-quality images and for larger rooms, it is really the only screen for your home theater.

Michael Jackson entertained us for most of his life and will forever be remembered as the King of Pop. Yet he has demonstrated numerous and significant changes since his solo debut over 20 years ago.

Michael Jackson entertained us for most of his life and will forever be remembered as the King of Pop. Yet he has demonstrated numerous and significant changes since his solo debut over 20 years ago.

In recent years, Jackson kept to himself. Perhaps the constant publicity, child molestation case, and other accusations finally wore him down. Some would argue that his music declined near the end.

Jackson spent most of his life singing, dancing, and entertaining. Most people who are old enough to remember his solo debut in the 1980′s may argue that his best work was produced over 20 years ago. While he is believed to have been working on a new album at the time of his death, expectations for this new album may be lower than they might have been two decades ago.

Was it the music, the shock value, or both, that kept Jackson’s fans coming back for more through numerous generations? Fans of his music mourned his death last summer and even critics reflected on the tragedy.

Fans will be happy to hear that Jackson’s last rehearsed performance was captured on video and has recently been released to the public. In “This Is It,” fans get a glimpse of what would have been another world tour for Jackson.

Jackson’s performance in the video has been reported as one of his best. Whether to commemorate the King of Pop, or simply to watch a phenomenal performance, this video comes highly recommended by fans and critics alike.

With outstanding vocals and awe-inspiring dancing, it is hard to believe that the performer in this movie lived a life of chronic pain and was believed to be very weak. Clearly he gave the performance everything he had.

I recommend this movie to all generations of Jackson fans. The real footage gives a very unique ‘raw’ view of his final performance.

This author also frequently gives advice about subjects like VGA to component cables and VGA to S video rca cable.

The unique buying proposition of a service like Yoostar unique, above and beyond its proprietary green screen technology, is how it markets its clips. By way of an explanation, the company distributes one to four minute clips of various movies that have a significant following. This means, someone using their service could buy a John Belushi “four pack” of clips, allowing said person to project himself or herself into four of Belushi’s most beloved clips.

For all intents and purposes, this means, the subscriber has access to four scenes of John Belushi’s character, Jake Blues, in The Blues Brothers. This access entails transposing Mr. Belushi to play out his dialogue and mannerisms via green screen. While this may strike some people as rather odd, after all, you paid good money to watch Belushi act, it would be more advantageous to view this as something of new kind of karaoke.

Like a karaoke machine, the software that comes standard with this kit allows the user to follow the dialogue and time his response appropriately. The lines play out on screen, like a karaoke machine and the end result is a strange kind of third product. What is rendered on your PC or Mac is a version of your favorite film, but starring you or someone you love. While it can be disorienting, ultimately, it tends to be quite a crowd-pleaser.

This nifty gadget is a-buzz in a dedicated social media community that rates and comments on the submitted clips. If your turn as Jake Blues was lacking gusto or timing, you are quite sure to hear from the online community. It is not too unlike a kind of YouTube for the green screening crowd.

Strange as it may sound, as one may be inclined to think celebrities would not want to see themselves transported, these units have made the rounds of celebrity gift baskets and morning talk shows alike. Perhaps this is a testament to our unbridled fascination with film and the possibility of being projected into one. The power of film, in the end, is the power to pull us into a narrative and desire to be a part of that world.

The only way to truly understand and appreciate what Yoostar is doing is to sample it and become a member of its online community.

It may be a bit of a stretch to call Satoshi Ishii the Michael Phelps of Japan, but not by much. His victory in the heavyweight judo competition at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing was easily the defining moment of the games for his countrymen and was considered by most media outlets the #1 highlight of the year in all of sports. Though Japan does well at the Olympics for a country of its size and has won gold medals in a number of sports, its important to keep in mind that until the late’70s judo was the countrys most popular sport.

Ishii himself is also a marketing dream. Hes especially big by Japanese standards with 240 pounds packed on his bulky 511 frame. Not surprisingly, hes tough as nails and a terror on the mat but away from the gym he comes off like an awkwardly cheerful overgrown boy. He definitely seems younger than his 22 years, but gives off the vibe of a nice neighbor boy who youd gladly pay to mow your lawn.

With the ability to offer him the most money and exposure, it seemed almost a fait accompli that Ishii would sign with DREAM and K-1 parent group FEG. Obviously its a good idea to keep your options open in negotiations, so he also reportedly talked to Sengoku parent World Victory Road and Antonio Inokis Inoki Genome Federation pro wrestling group. As expected, however, FEG reportedly presented Ishii with the most lucrative offer: 500 million yen (roughly $5.5 million US) to fight on DREAM and K-1 cards, with incentive bonuses based on his drawing power and performance. He would very likely become the highest paid mixed martial artist in the world before hed even stepped into the ring for the first time.

Ishii then shocked the Japanese fight sport world by categorically rejecting FEGs offer, saying that it was his lifelong dream to fight in the UFC. While this rationale might sound plausible to a US based fan, its akin to a top college baseball player from a SEC school turning down a big offer from the Atlanta Braves saying that its his lifelong dream to play for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan Central League. It frequently comes a shock to US MMA fans just how low the UFC ranks in the Japan’s fight sport pantheon. In MMA, their profile is lower than DREAM and Sengoku, but even smaller groups like Shooto and DEEP.

Ishii then travelled to Las Vegas for UFC 92, with the Japanese media in tow covering his every move. There were countless photo opportunities with Dana White, who spoke of Ishii in glowing terms, along with top UFC stars. Upon his return to Japan, he was repeatedly photographed wearing UFC t-shirts while speaking enthusiastically about Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta and everyone else involved with the promotion.

At age 22, Ishiis got plenty of time to develop as a fighter. His biggest downside risk from signing with Zuffa is financial since hed be lucky to get a fraction of what FEG is willing to pay him. The competitive logic of learning his craft slowly notwithstanding, theres a huge risk in automatically assuming that he can fight for the UFC for a few years and then cash a big check when he returns to Japan as the potential of injury and changing market conditions could seriously impact his market value. On the other hand, it could be a risk hes willing to take given that hes got his celebrity both with the mainstream public and in the judo community to fall back on.

Theres another very realistic scenario that it was all a negotiating ploy by Ishii. The UFC was likely willing to play along, figuring that their investment of a few plane tickets and hotel suites would be worth the resulting PR surge in Japan. Ishii and the UFC develop a cordial relationship which could be to the benefit of both parties down the road and both sides realized that a long term commitment wasn’t the right move at this point.

With the recent revelation that Ishii has broken off UFC negotiations to entertain offers from other parties thats starting to look like the plausible explanation for the once hot and heavy courtship between Ishii and Zuffa.

As a postscript to the Ishiis relationship with the UFC, it apparently opened the doors for his move to the US where hell be training with the Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. That alone is a positive for his future development as a fighter, as hell be training with a whos who of professional fighting including the gym’s namesake, Randy Couture. Training at a high level facility like Xtreme Couture among such an abundance of talent is a career move thats difficult to second guess.

As little girls we all dreamed of that beautiful boy at school, knowing he was far to pretty for us, but yet there was still a part of us that remained hopeful that he might see something special in us. I think that is a big reason why so many girls and women love Twilight’s leading lady, Bella. She is described as just an ordinary girl, shy in a lot of respects. She doesn’t see it, but there is something special about her; she is just herself. Bella is not a girl that tries to be anything more or anything less than who she already is. Even though she is shy she has an inner strength; throughout the book her strength is revealed more and more.

I believe she is a role model for an age of girls where there is nothing more important than how you look. How pretty you are makes or breaks you. We see young girls obsessed with how they look and dress. This is why I think it is a good idea to encourage our young girls to want to be more like a Bella and less like a Paris. Here are a few ways to look, and feel, more like Bella

Bella’s look is natural. She doesn’t feel like she has to be covered in make up; this is what makes her stand a part from all the other girls at her school. Guys take notice that she is beautiful because she is just herself. Young ladies and girls can learn a lot from this aspect of her. Teaching them to love who they are now, will lead to them being strong women later.

Modesty is in! There is nothing flashy, sexy, or skimpy about how Bella dresses. Everywhere we look nowadays we see young girls dressing and acting like women trying to be sexy. There are even several clothing lines by teen girl stars being sold that consist of too short skirts, too tight jeans, and revealing tops. Bella’s look is more natural and comfy. She shows that you can still be pretty without dressing in clothes that show off your body. Even though her wardrobe consists of mainly jeans, she always looks feminine by adding pretty shirts.

Be wash and go. Bella isn’t over done or stuck up; she is ready to go at the drop of a hat. She doesn’t need to stand in front of a mirror for hours every morning before heading off to school. Help your young girl to stop stressing over how she looks all the time.

Biggest way to get Bella’s look is to simply accept who you are. Stop trying to be someone else, or who you think people want you to be. Teaching young ladies to be confident is key in helping them become vibrant young women.

If the girl in your life loves Twilight and wants to be more like Bella, why not throw her a Twilight party. Invite her girlfriends over and have fun. You can buy some Twilight party favors on line to hand out to all her friends. It would be fun to get Twilight party supplies and decorations and have the girls reenact their favorite scenes from the book or the movie. Whatever you do, your Twilight loving girl will thank you for it.

If you are hosting a Twilight party and looking for Twilight party favors and Twilight party supplies, E-WeddingFavors.com has the biggest selection of unique Twilight party favors, supplies and much more. These products are one of a kind and are all at a very affordable prices at or around $1 or $2.

What makes celebrities successful? Many of them have started to admit that much of their success comes from cosmic ordering.

What makes celebrities successful? Many of them have started to admit that much of their success comes from cosmic ordering.

If you have seen the film ‘the secret’ or have heard about the law of attraction, you will know something about this, but cosmic ordering allows you to decide specifically on things that you want in your life.

Suppose for a moment that you had access to a cosmic ordering service and if you wanted something, all you had to do was think of it and it would appear before you. That would be amazing, wouldn’t it? The incredible thing is that every one of us can already do this – but most of us, even with limitless options continue to choose the same thing over and over again.

Look at life as a menu containing every possible food – but you just look at one line of that menu and keep ordering the bread every time! Maybe you just haven’t bothered to investigate the possibilities; or you feel like you only deserve what you already have.

Imagine that you are fabulously wealthy. Picture yourself doing all of the things you’ve always wanted to do with no worries about anything. Imagine a permanent vacation, travelling by means of your private jet.

You would wear only the finest clothing and always look incredible. If you can visualize this and keep it in your mind for a few minutes, you are already on your way to achieving this goal. Most people have a very hard time imagining this kind of life for themselves and the idea of cosmic ordering seems like something which they will never be able to accomplish. So what is this cosmic ordering anyway?

Advanced cosmic ordering is really for the majority of people who have not yet been successful at cosmic ordering. It basically means reprogramming your subconscious mind to clear all the negative programming which you have been subjected to since you were a child.

The years of negative programming and belief that there’s not enough for everyone dilutes and negates all the wonderful images that you put in your mind. Envy for another’s success reinforces the fact that you don’t have enough.

Thinking that you don’t deserve better makes it very hard for you to do better for yourself, even when the opportunity is right there in front of you.

Quantum physics is a scientific field which has opened new possibilities for thinking about the Universe. The rules are different than in the physics you remember from school and can be used a s a way to think about why some are more successful than others.

Your mind emits energy which capable of affecting the state of the smallest particle known to us; the quark. When a quark moves form one energy level to another, this is known as a quantum leap. By changing levels, the quark changes the properties of the atom containing it. If you can affect this change, then you can do absolutely anything!

A lot of people don’t think that we can really change our circumstances by thinking about them differently. Maybe these people have tried cosmic ordering, but without believing that it could work – and so it did not, at least in their case. One thing which we can learn from the world of physics is that an observer changes the outcome of a process by simply observing it. For example, if you were to watch a process while believing that it will fail to produce a result, then that’s what will happen – you will have influenced the outcome just by being there as an observer – and not for the better!

With the right instruction and practice, you can get anything you want from the cosmic ordering system. The ancients knew it existed, every religion emphasizes belief to make prayers come true, and yet in this enlightened world, most people listen to neither science nor religion for the answer but continue blindly down the path of poverty.

Training your mind to order the best for yourself is the right thing to do but you need help to clear away years of negative and poverty thinking. There are many aids today to speed the process and help you eliminate the failure pattern of the past and make room for the success of today.

Advanced cosmic ordering uses new developments in audio technology. By listening to special frequencies called binaural tones, you can tune your brain waves to the necessary frequency to communicate with the universe. This is the state which Buddhist monks spend years of meditation trying to reach.

In combination with subliminal affirmations and self-hypnosis recordings, binaural sound helps you get rid of negative patterns and begin seeing results fast.

Advanced cosmic ordering works. Once you have mastered the technique, everything you want really can be yours, but it will take some work on your part too.

You can find out how easy it really is to be successful at Cosmic Ordering by visiting here.

Getting a permanent tattoo for yourself is a very big decision and something that you should think about carefully. Tattoos usually represent the person wearing them, or sometimes they have important meanings for the wearer. Whatever it is, having a tattoo is not something that you should take lightly.

It can be difficult to choose the right design. There are thousands of designs. Even if you just want a rose, there are hundreds of rose designs from which to chose. First decide on the theme of your tattoo, and then review the design choices available for your theme.

You may find yourself unable to decide because their are so many options. Here are some tips to help you find exactly the right tattoo.

Start by looking at designs online in the many tattoo galleries. Many artists have their own websites to showcase their unique designs. thin about the style that best represents you. The are tribal designs, Asian designs and representations of fine art. Take your time and look at as many designs as possible before you make your choice. You don’t want to get your tattoo and then see a design you like better. Look for the image that is perfect for you.

Many tattoo artists keep a portfolio of photos of designs they have done for their customers. In addition to helping you choose a design, these portfolios show the skill of the artist. If the design isn’t well executed, you won’t be happy with it, so always ask to see the artist’s portfolio. This will help you judge the artist’s skill in drawing the design you want. The skill level is especially important for complex designs. You need an artist who can color inside the lines. You should be comfortable with your artist and confident in his skills. You should also make sure the artist uses sterile procedures so you don’t get an infection.

Deciding where on your body to place the tattoo can be another dilemma. If you work in a conservative atmosphere, it best to put your tattoo in an inconspicuous location. It’s okay if it shows at the beach, but you don’t want it to show at work. tattoos can be placed just anywhere on your body, so consider your reason for getting the tattoo when you choose it’s location. Even if you aren’t able to display your art at work, you can put on your shoulder or back.

If you find the perfect design, but it isn’t tattoo art, take the picture to your local tattoo artist. He may be able to create a drawing of how the design might look if it were made into a tattoo. There are some restrictions on the way a photo or piece of art can be rendered in a tattoo. Skin isn’t the same as canvass, and needles aren’t the same as brushes. If you like the way your design looks as a tattoo you can have it put on your skin.

A tattoo is a statement about who you are and what’s important to you. Chose your design and your artist carefully and chose the location of your tattoo with equal care. If you take the time to plan for your tattoo, you will be happy with now and in the future.

In our celebrity obsessed society many people would do anything to meet their favorite T. V. Or movie star. Most people, at one time or another, have wondered what celebrities are like in person and how it feels to live their everyday, publicly scrutinized life. Even if you have no designs on becoming a big star yourself one day, it’s easy to get caught up in hearing about their high profile lives. If you live in or are visiting the Los Angeles area, one way to get a little glimpse into the stars’ daily living and working world is to take one of the many Hollywood star tours.

The choices of tours vary depending on what you’re most interested in seeing and how much time you have. The most common tours are the bus rides that take passengers all around the most famous Los Angeles areas like Beverly Hills and Rodeo drive, Hollywood, Santa Monica or Bel Air. These basic bus tours will simply drive through the areas pointing out famous places of interest.

Another type of bus tour is the tour of stars homes which is not exactly a tour but sort of a drive-by. You’ll be in an enclosed bus with large windows so that you can be sure to see everything, but you will not be getting out of the bus, as some people think. Years ago, in Hollywood’s old days the type of tour where you exit the bus at each stop was much more possible but today, city ordinances prevent such activity. Too much possibility for traffic congestion and concern for safety issues make it very difficult to do. But not to worry, though. The windows are large enough that you’ll get to see all the details of the luxurious homes, take pictures and maybe even catch a glimpse of your favorite celebrity. The buses also travel quite leisurely and the driver does stop to give a little background information on the stars and the neighborhood.

Then you have the Hollywood Studio tours that will really give you an inside look into how your favorite movies and T. V. Show are made. Some of the Studio tours are very interactive so they can be a lot of fun. You may even get a chance to see a live rehearsal or filming going on.

Because you are in their place of business, a bonus is that you have a good chance at seeing some of the actual celebrities at work. Even if you don’t catch their performance, you may see them walking around the lot. Tours take place usually every day of the week, so you can try to plan to take your tour on a working day for the best chance a a celebrity sighting.

For those that are interested in doing something a little less mainstream, there are a few alternative choices as well. One tour company is capitalizing on the seemingly insatiable need for the public to know all about the indiscretions and scandals that celebrities are involved in. Dearly Departed Tours offers two Hollywood tours that some might call a bit morbid.

They have two tours that can be considered just a touch morbid. One is the Hollywood Tragical History Tour and takes riders past many of the locations that have been involved with celebrities and their tragic or mysterious deaths. The other is the Helter Skelter Tour which is touted as a “3+ hour multi-media tour” which takes you to all the sites involved in the brutal murders of the LaBianca and Tate families that were committed by the Manson family.

Those tours are probably not for the faint of heart, but certainly, if you’re looking for something a little different to do on your vacation, then you’ve found it at Dearly Departed Tours.

Learn more about Hollywood star tours. Stop by Kathy Allen’s site where you can find out all about star tours and what it can do for you.

Soap (1977-1981): So scandalous at the time that ABC received thousands of letters of protest before it even debuted, this soap opera spoof included one of the first openly gay TV characters (Billy Crystal’s Jodie), murder, the Mafia, demonic possession, alien abduction and several (some unresolved) cliffhangers.

Sex and the City (1998-2004): Inspiring countless copycats of sex columnist Carrie’s fab designer lifestyle, ‘SATC’ ultimately owed its success to one of the best female ensembles in tube history, with Sarah Jessica Parker and pals just as adept at physical comedy as they were at dropping those naughty one-liners.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-present): Only Larry David could turn a happily married, wildly successful TV writer into a hapless loser. The ‘Seinfeld’ co-creator (who inspired neurotic George Costanza) spins awkward social situations into sometimes painful-to-watch comedy gold.

Frasier (1993-2004): Cliff and Norm seemed more obvious choices for ‘Cheers’ spin-offs, but it was Kelsey Grammer’s uptight shrink who got his own sharply written sitcom. The Crane fellas made for one competitive yet loving family, which helped the show become the most Emmy-winning series (with 37) in history.

The Office (2005-present): Some argue the original series is better, but for our Schrute Bucks, it’s the Dunder Mifflin gang that most hilariously captures the monotony of ‘Office’ life. Michael Scott over David Brent? Yep. Dwight over Gareth? Indeed. And not since Sam & Diane have we been treated to a sitcom couple as hot as Jim & Pam.

The Honeymooners (1955-1956): Before there was a ‘King of Queens,’ Jackie Gleason ruled Brooklyn as bus driver Ralph, whose feisty, hotter-than-him wife Alice kept the loud mouth in line. Despite his scheming, Ralph was a softie, and became one of TV’s first working class heroes.

M*A*S*H (1972-1983): From Hawkeye’s womanizing to Klinger’s obsession with getting a Section Eight, a constant barrage of wisecracks and juvenile pranks was just what the doctor ordered for these Korean War army surgeons, whose gallows humor was the only way they, and viewers, could deal with the traumas of war.

The Simpsons (1989-present): The longest-running comedy on TV holds that record for a reason — it is, quite simply, the best sitcom in history. The animated classic has spent 19 seasons mocking and celebrating pop culture, and giving us TV’s most beloved family and most delightfully ornery 10-year-old, Bartholomew J. Simpson.

They eventually do, but soon have problems when Leslie sells “Smelly Cat” to a kitty litter company. Rachel invites everyone but Ross to go skiing for the weekend; they get locked out of the car at a rest stop; Rachel refuses to call Ross for help, so Monica and Phoebe do it behind her back; he comes to their aid and then gets stuck because his battery dies.
The One With The Dollhouse: Ross and Monica’s Aunt Silvia passes away and leaves a beautiful dollhouse to Monica; Monica invites Phoebe to play with it but then doesn’t like Phoebe’s ideas; Phoebe makes her own dollhouse, but it catches fire. Joey yearns for Kate, but since he can’t have her, he goes out with her understudy; things get hot between Joey and Kate during rehearsal, however, and they end up sleeping together… but it means more to Joey than it does to Kate. Rachel sets Chandler up on a date with her boss; she likes him, but he thinks she’s a big dull dud; Chandler tells her he’ll call even though he doesn’t intend to.

The One With The Screamer: Phoebe waits on hold so she can have her phone repaired before the warranty expires. The gang goes to Joey’s play on opening night. Rachel dates Tommy, who seems pretty nice… except when he starts screaming at people; however, only Ross witnesses this behavior and can’t convince anyone else. Joey’s play gets bad reviews, prompting the director to break up with Kate; Joey and Kate spend the night talking and falling in love. Kate gets a job offer in L.A. and decides to leave.

The One After Ross Says Rachel: Despite the fact that Ross said “Rachel” in his vows instead of “Emily,” they go through with the wedding; but then Emily sneaks out the window at the reception and apparently never wants to see Ross again. Rachel fixates on the fact that “he said my name!” Chandler and Monica agree that their new relationship can only continue while they are away from home… but then have a very difficult time arranging to be alone together. While waiting at the airport in hopes that Emily will still show up for the honeymoon to Athens, Ross bumps into Rachel. She encourages him to go to Athens anyway; he invites her to come along. While boarding, Ross goes back to get his jacket and discovers that Emily has arrived and has witnessed the two of them preparing to leave together. Ross misses the flight; Rachel doesn’t.

The One With The Yeti: Joey continues to keep Monica and Chandler’s secret, although he’s not to happy about keeping quite. Phoebe receives a mink coat as a family heirloom; since she’s against using fur, she plans to cremate it… until she sees herself wearing it in the mirror. Ross sells all his stuff and moves to a new apartment because Emily wants them to have a fresh start at a new life. Emily’s demands get to be a little too much for Ross, and he tells her she’s either got to trust him or their marriage won’t work. Emily decides she can’t trust Ross. Rachel and Monica are frightened by a hairy man in a dark storage room; the “Yeti” turns out to be Danny, a new tenent in the building. Rachel and Danny don’t seem to get along but end up going out for pizza together. Ugly Naked Guy is back.

The One With Ross’s Sandwich: Joey lets himself look bad in order to explain away various discoveries that could expose Monica’s and Chandler’s relationship: underwear in Monica’s sofa; a lady’s razor in his shower; candlelight and videotape; a nude polaroid. He threatens to tell everyone the truth unless Chandler and Monica can come up with a story that makes him look good. They don’t come through, so Joey creates a new lie: he slept with Monica in London and she’s been after him ever since. Phoebe takes a literature class; Rachel decides to come with her, but doesn’t bother to read the books. After Rachel steals her ideas in the first class, Phoebe feeds Rachel misinformation about the second book. Ross has a problem with rage after someone at work steals his Thanksgiving-leftovers sandwich. After scaring his co-workers, yelling at his boss, and getting upset at a psychiatrist, he gets put on tranquilizers.

The One With The Inappropriate Sister: Because of his boredom while away from work, Ross offers to help Joey focus on writing a movie. Things get a little tense, however, when Ross wants Joey to work and Chandler wants to play ‘Fireball.’ Phoebe volunteers to collect Christmas donations for the poor, but ends up getting a bucket full of unwanted ‘contributions,’ so she gets tough with the donors. Monica arranges for Rachel and Danny to go out. It seems to be going very well until Rachel discovers that Danny has an unusually close relationship with his sister, Krista.

The One Where Everybody Finds Out: Ugly Naked Guy puts stuff in boxes (prepares to move), and sublets his apartment. Ross applies, but competition for the place is fierce, so when a bribe doesn’t seal the deal, Ross decides to cultivate and exploit a common interest–nakedness. Phoebe, while looking at Ross’ potential new apartment with Rachel, looks out the window and sees Chandler and Monica “doing it.” Phoebe and Rachel decide to use their knowledge of this romance to play some practical jokes on Monica and Chandler–jokes which include Phoebe making passes at Chandler. Monica realizes they must know, so she and Chandler play along, and each side tries to see who will crack first. Now everybody knows, except Ross. …Until he gets the apartment, looks out the window, and suddenly has a return of his rage problem.

The One With Rachel’s Inadvertent Kiss: Rachel has an interview at Ralph Lauren, where she mistakenly kisses the interviewer (Mr. Zelner). She gets called back for a second interview, where she again mistakes Mr. Zelner’s actions and chews him out. Later, realizing her mistake, she meets with him again, straightens things out, and gets the job. Ross spends all his free time ‘acting’ in front of his window, thinking it entertains his friends. Joey tries to find a woman who keeps waving at him from Ross’ building, but somehow keeps ending up at Ross’ place instead. Monica obsesses about proving that she and Chandler are still a hot couple, like Phoebe and Gary. Chandler enjoys it for a while, but eventually helps Monica see that their relationship has progressed to a better level.

The One Where Ross Can’t Flirt: Monica and Chandler are going out for their ten-month anniversary; Chandler wants Monica to wear the earings he gave her. However, she lent them to Phoebe, who lent them to Rachel, who lost one. Ross sees Chandler flirting with the pizza girl (Caitlin) and decides he’s going to turn on the charm as well, with disasterous results. Joey has a part on Law and Order; his grandmother comes over to watch the show, but his part has been cut. Joey quickly improvises a scene on video tape and slips it into the VCR.

The One In Vegas, Part 2: Ross and Rachel arrive at the casino, where Rachel quickly learns she is “a human doodle”. The ink won’t come off, so she and Ross spend the day hiding in the hotel room, raiding the mini-bar. Once they’re completely drunk, Rachel finally agrees to go back down to the casino–after she draws on Ross’ face. Phoebe, playing the slots, is plagued by a lurker: An elderly woman who follows her around, waiting for her to give up a machine that hasn’t paid out, then takes over and hits the jackpot (a strategy with absolutely no basis in the laws of probability). She decides to out-lurk the lurker; but during a confrontation with her, Phoebe gets thrown out of the casino. Joey tries to persuade his identical hand twin that they should go into show business. He becomes such a nuisance that he gets thrown out, too. Chandler makes a scene to get Monica’s attention. They make up, and Monica continues her winning streak playing craps. Chandler says if she rolls another hard eight, they’ll get married. The dice bounce off the table and the roll is disqualified; one die shows a four, the other is on it’s edge between four and five. Chander decides it’s a four. They arrive at the wedding chapel and are waiting for the previous service to end, when the chapel doors fly open and out walk the drunken Ross and Rachel, newly married.

Decades before mixed martial arts became popular in the United States, events matching fighters of different fighting disciplines were very common in Japan. They weren’t called “mixed martial arts” at the time, but that’s essentially what they were. There’s an entire history of pro wrestlers fighting specialists from other martial arts (particularly judo) that were leaving out, but during the’70′s Antonio Inoki began to put the concept of “mixed martial arts” on the map with his matches against fighters from other disciplines.

Inoki would often face other martial artists in fights that are widely accepted to have been “worked” (having a predetermined outcome) in the same manner as professional wrestling matches. While Inoki faced a number of karate, judo and boxing champions his most famous match was certainly his fight against world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali.

There’s a great deal of uncertainty about many of the stories surrounding how the event came together and transpired, but a few facts are now known. Ali took the fight as it was a large and presumptively easy paycheck. The big money he was earning is what kept him from walking out when his camp started to disagree with Inoki’s handlers over the rules and ‘finish’ fo the fight. Some suggest that it was supposed to be a fair fight going in, but Ali at the last minute insisted on rules more favorable to him. The more likely version of events is that Ali’s handlers agreed to a predetermined finish, only to have Ali balk at the last moment.

Many conspiracy theorists have noted that these rules were never announced to the crowd on fight night, leaving many with the impression that they were being made up as they went along. Action in the fight would further validate this view, but there actually were rules that both camps agreed to heading into the fight. Not surprisingly, most of these were designed to protect Ali. In fact, they were so one-sided that if Inoki hadn’t been so concerned about preserving his big payday he would have been justified in not fighting. Inoki was prohibited from punching with a closed fist or striking Ali in the head (ostensibly since he wasn’t wearing gloves). Inoki was prohibited from using any sort of submission maneuver. The most absurd limitation was that Inoki was prohibited from “grappling or trying to take Ali to the ground”. A few observers noted that this was like not letting Ali throw a jab.

The result was an absolutely horrible fight. Neither man showed much interest in engaging the other, with Inoki spending most of the time on the ground doing what he could under the one sided rules. Inoki threw kicks at Ali’s legs, Ali threw an occasional jab and tried to protect himself from his opponent’s leg strikes. The fight ended a 74-74 draw, with the real losers being the fans.

Some interesting trivia about the fight–the referee was former pro wrestler “Judo” Gene Labell, who is considered by many ‘the baddest man on the planet’ even in his 80′s. He could have very likely beaten up both men at the same time–a spectacle that might have been welcomed by the live crowd and closed circuit audience worldwide.

The fiasco didn’t hurt Inoki’s popularity in Japan whatsoever. Oddly, he became something of a hero for trying to take the fight to Ali despite the one sided rules. He would remain one of Japan’s most popular pro wrestlers and later serve in the country’s parliament. Inoki’s fights against other martial artists remained wildly popular, and are often credited as being the forerunner of PRIDE, RINGS and the major MMA organizations in Japan today.
